If you like Bowie knives I have good news.  I just added three real nice Bowie’s by Cold Steel.

First is the Natchez Bowie with a 11.75 inch blade of premium VG-1 San Mai III.  The pommel, guard, and bolster are highly polished 300 series stainless and the handle is black linen Micarta.  Comes with a high quality black leather sheath.

Cold Steel Rajah III and Mini Tac Tanto Knives

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

Just added a couple of Cold Steel knives to my site.

First is the new Rajah III knife designed by Andrew Demko.  It the smallest in the Rajah series and features a 3.5 inch AUS 8A steel blade and Grivory handle slabs.  It incorporates the Tri-Ad lock and comes with a thumb plate and adjustable pocket clip.  The thumb plate can be made to catch on ones pocket and cause the blade to open as it is drawn.  The pocket clip is adjustable for left or right side carry.

Next is the fourth model in the Mini Tac series.  The blade style on this is a tanto.  The blade is AUS 8A and is 3.75 inches long.  The handle slabs are textured G-10 that provide a good grip.  It comes with a Secure-Ex neck sheath with beaded chain.  The Mini Tac series is one of my favorite Cold Steel lines.

Cold Steel Spartan Knife

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

I just added the Cold Steel Spartan to my site.  This folder is a collaboration between custom knifemaker Andrew Demko and Cold Steel.

This knife also features the Tri-Ad locking mechanism originated by Andrew Demko.  As with most Cold Steel locking mechanisms, this lock is super strong.

The handle scales are made from Grivory which is a glass reinforced nylon similar to Zytel.

The recurve blade is hollow ground from Japanese AUS 8A stainless steel and is 4.5″ long.

One unique feature about this knife is that it incorporates a single thumb plate rather than dual thumb studs for opening the blade.  This triangular shaped plate allows one to open the knife using your thumb, but it can also catch on the edge of one’s pocket causing the blade to open as it is drawn from the pocket.  This is similar to the Wave feature used on Emerson knives.

The unique handle shape keeps the hand from moving forward or backward and possibly slipping off of the handle during use.

Overall length is 10.5 inches.
