Spyderco Perrin PPT Knife — S30V Steel

Monday, July 12th, 2010

New from Spyderco is the Perrin PPT knife.  PPT refers to the three designers behind this folder. They are Fred Perrin, Philippe Perotti, and Sacha Thiel.

The PPT features a 3.16 inch S30V steel blade with a full flat grind.  The black G-10 scales feature milled creases that provide a very secure grip and give this knife a striking appearance.

The clip is reversible for left or right carry and allows the folder to sit very low in one’s pocket.

Cold Steel Rajah III and Mini Tac Tanto Knives

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

Just added a couple of Cold Steel knives to my site.

First is the new Rajah III knife designed by Andrew Demko.  It the smallest in the Rajah series and features a 3.5 inch AUS 8A steel blade and Grivory handle slabs.  It incorporates the Tri-Ad lock and comes with a thumb plate and adjustable pocket clip.  The thumb plate can be made to catch on ones pocket and cause the blade to open as it is drawn.  The pocket clip is adjustable for left or right side carry.

Next is the fourth model in the Mini Tac series.  The blade style on this is a tanto.  The blade is AUS 8A and is 3.75 inches long.  The handle slabs are textured G-10 that provide a good grip.  It comes with a Secure-Ex neck sheath with beaded chain.  The Mini Tac series is one of my favorite Cold Steel lines.

Columbia River Knife and Tool Drifter Knife

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

One of my favorite knives is the Drifter by CRKT.  It is of liner lock design and features G-10 scales over stainless steel liners.  The 8Cr14MoV steel blade is 2.88 inches and has been given a nice gray titanium nitride finish which is a look I very much like.  Another nice aspect of this knife is that it has an open build that makes it easy to clean.  I should also point out that the pocket clip isn’t adjustable and is positioned for tip-down carry.

This G-10 version is available in both plain and partially-serrated versions:

Columbia River Drifter Knife — Plain Edge

Columbia River Drifter Knife — ComboEdge

Their is also a stainless steel version that features a stainless steel handle and is a frame lock rather than a liner lock.  The handle has been given a flat titanium nitride finish but the blade only features a standard brushed finish.  Once again the blade is 2.88 inches and is 8Cr14MoV stainless.

This version only comes with a plain edge:

The Drifter is a nice knife at a great price. Get yours today.
