Columbia River Knife & Tool Ken Onion Eros Knife — Acuto+ Blade, IKBS

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

Ken Onion is now designing knives for Columbia River.  The Eros is one of his designs.

It features a 3 inch Acuto+ steel blade with a built in blade flipper. This knife is of frame lock design where the frame is made of titanium.

This folder also features the IKBS ball bearing pivot system where the blade rotates over a ring of ball bearings which provides a super smooth blade opening experience.

Columbia River Knife & Tool ( CRKT ) Ken Onion Ripple 2 Knife

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Yesterday I posted that I now have the CRKT Ripple available on my site.

Today I now have available the Ken Onion Ripple 2 with a blue titanium nitride finish.

The Ripple 2 is the Ripple’s little brother.  The Acuto+ blade has been shortened down to 2.70 inches, and overall length has been reduced one inch down to 6.50 inches.

The CNC machined steel handle has a blue TiNi finish that has been given a pocket-worn burnish just like it’s big brother has.  Additionally, just like it’s big brother, this folder also features a flipper and the IKBS ball-bearing pivot.

The Ripple 2 is only available with a plain edge.

You can learn more about this wonderful folder below:

Note:  I am waiting on the charcoal version and will post when it is available.

Columbia River ( CRKT ) Ken Onion Ripple Knife

Monday, January 18th, 2010

Good news everybody.  I just added the charcoal version of the new CRKT Ripple knife designed by Ken Onion.  Thats right, Ken is now also collaborating with Columbia River Knife & Tool

His first model is the Ripple which features a 3.13″ blade made from a steel called Acuto+

The steel handle has been CNC machined and given a charcoal titanium nitride finish.  This finish is then given a pocket-worn burnish in order to highlight the underlying steel.

Unlike a lot of Ken’s knives, this isn’t an assisted-opener.  Instead it uses a flipper that sticks out the back of the handle.  This flipper when combined with the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) ball-bearing pivot mechanism makes blade deployment almost as fast and easy as your typical assisted knife.

Other features of the Ripple include a frame lock and a pocket clip.

The Ken Onion Ripple is available in both plain and partially serrated versions and has an overall length of 7.50″.

Note:  This folder is also available with a blue TiNi finish.  Unfortunately, I don’t have any of these available yet.  Once I do, I will post it on this blog.
