As I mentioned in my last post, SOG is coming out with a lot of new items this year.
One of the more prominent is their SOGZilla line of knives that come in multiple variations.
Unlike a lot of new folders that arrive on the scene, this line of knives feature a lock back rather than a frame lock or liner lock. While some people might have a problem with this because they are not as easy to close, I don’t because lock backs can also be quickly and easily closed one-handed if you know the right technique.
These folders come in two different sizes:
The large versions feature a 3.8 inch blade and have an overall length of around 8.5 inches.
The small version has a 3.25″ blade and an overall length of 7.35 inches.
Both versions are available with either a plain or partially serrated edge.
Their is also a version that has been given a black titanium nitride finish that a lot of users prefer.
The blade steel is 8Cr13MoV that is gaining popularity with the knife compaines.
Next up is the handle material. Both stainless steel and Zytel versions are available. The Zytel versions feature some nice texturing to help improve their gripability.
As far as an opening mechanism they use a modified hole that features a slight gap in the blade hole.
